You heard right! Alone in the Dark 5, the newest game in the series put out by Atari hits the Wii this summer of 2008! Other versions will be available for the Xbox 360, Windows PC and in the fall, the Playstation 3 but the PS3 version takes longer to be released because special episodic content's being created specifically for it. For the Wii, this game rates a shade darker than many of the video games Wii features. For those of you who may not know, let me give you a brief rundown of what AitD covers in terms of storyline. The Alone in the Dark series stands as one of the stronger titles in the survivor horror genre. This fifth installment, set in 2008, plunges Edward Carnby into New York City's Central Park. Now that's dangerous enough, I know, but he's dealing with a far more sinister version of the world famous park. Supernatural activity and conspiracy allegations that terrible things take place in tunnels below the park. The story sweeps back through history to touch on international meddling during colonial American times - a trade of land between the British and the Dutch. It plugs into the infamous Manhattan Project, as well. There's drama, adventure and intrigue a'plenty. The environment not only consists of horrible creature monsters, but many other objects you'll be able to work with throughout the game. They're saying you can take a packet of blood, puncture it with a knife and then sprinkle it out to create a lure for monsters you want to ambush. How cool is that?! If you enjoyed games like Siren or Silent Hill, then you might just love Alone in the Dark for Wii. It's promising to bring a brand new feel to that system. To my eyes, a game featuring heavier subject matter like AitD 5 belongs right on the Wii, helping broaden its fanbase. What do you think? If you'd like to add your opinion to the mix, I invite you to visit your favorite horror or gaming forum and speak out! If you're looking to pick up a copy for yourself, there are many online shops that carry this game. They'll have it for not just Wii, but Playstation, Xbox and PC, too.
